Four-Channels MU801 Plus Ultrasonic Flow Meter
▍Introduction
In the field of liquid measurement, ultrasonic flow meter is a non-contact measuring instrument with high accuracy. Among them, the two commonly-used types are multi-channel ultrasonic flow meters and single-channel ultrasonic flow meters. Obviously, MU801 Plus from Flo-Instruments is a such multi-channel ultrasonic flow meter.
MU801 Plus is an ultrasonic flowmeter based on transit-time schematic design. The multi-channel ultrasonic flow meter uses the combination of multi pairs of transducers, which are installed on both sides of the pipe to form multi sound channel paths. Flow velocity and flow rate are calculated by measuring the time difference in ultrasound propagation along the multi acoustic channel paths. Therefore, the multi-channel ultrasonic flow meter has higher measurement accuracy and stability.
The multi-channel ultrasonic flow meter is suitable for situations with a wide pipe size range, such as large pipe diameters, high flow rates, high viscosity, etc. Since the multi-channel ultrasonic flow meter uses multi-channel paths, the error can be reduced and the measurement accuracy can be improved. In addition, the multi-channel ultrasonic flow meter also has better signal processing capabilities and can resist noise interference.

▍Installation
V Method |
The V method is considered as the standard method. It usually gives a more accurate reading and is used on pipe diameters ranging from 25mm to 400mm (1~16”)approximately. Also,it is convenient to use, but still requires proper installation of the transducer, contact on the pipe at the pipe's centerline and equal spacing on either side of the centerline. |
Z Method

With the N method, the sound waves traverse the fluid twice and bounce three times off the pipe walls. It is suitable for small pipe diameter measurement. The measurement accuracy can be improved by extending the transit distance with the N method (uncommonly used). |

As with the N method, the measurement accuracy can also be improved by extending the transit distance with the W method. The sound wave traverses the fluid four times and bounces four times off the pipe walls. It is suitable for very small pipe(diameters less than 50mm,2") |
